DIGITAL DELI, 2017

Pigment prints on fluorescent acrylic, metal tubes, and self-adhesive polypropylene; neon sign; jacquard weave. Dimensions variable.

Digital Deli examines the circulation and consumption of images in the saturated visual landscape of the contemporary digital vernacular. By referencing the constant bombardment of visual information, through advertising and social media, Scozzaro transforms photographs into objects that operate like scattered commodities, echoing the sensory overload of an iconic New York deli. Through the layering of familiar and generic imagery, commercial signage, kitsch aesthetics, and stock imagery, the work reflects on how images acquire meaning, how they are reshaped by repetition and context, and how the seemingly mundane becomes both spectacle and critique. Digital Deli invites viewers to navigate this dense visual field, creating new associations while questioning the structures of desire and power that govern the perception of images.

DIGITAL BODEGA, 2017

Linoleum tiles, polyester fabric, folding table, beer, music, and people.
Dimensions variable

Digital Bodega was part of the first iteration of Digital Deli, presented in the basement of the Chinatown gallery Baxter St during the exhibition opening. Conceived as a temporary environment and social activation, the installation transformed the space into a gathering site where art, community, and nightlife converged to a soundtrack by l’oggetto.

DIGITAL DELI RETURNS TO CANAL ST., 2017

Performance

After the exhibition closing, during deinstallation, Scozzaro peeled adhesive prints from the gallery walls and “returned” them to Canal Street, adding yet another layer to its dense visual fabric of commercial signage and spontaneous urban writing.
