BIO
Marco Scozzaro is an Italian artist based in New York City, working across photography, video, performance, music, and installation. He studied Psychology at the University of Parma, Italy, and Photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York.His work has been presented in solo exhibitions at Baxter St at CCNY, New York, and FMAV Fondazione Modena Arti Visive, Italy. Selected group exhibitions include the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Aperture Foundation, Microscope Gallery, and BRIC, New York, as well as the Lishui and Pingyao Photography Festivals in China, and the Bandung Photography Triennale in Indonesia.
Scozzaro has received residencies and fellowships from BRIC, the Institute for Electronic Arts, Signal Culture, the Camera Club of New York, and the Bronx Museum of the Arts. His work has been featured in Artnet, Der Greif, GUP, and Osmos, and commissioned by The New York Times, Vogue, and Wallpaper.
Under the moniker l’oggetto, he produces underground electronic dance music, performs in clubs, and releases records through his label, MKDF Records.
He lives and works in Brooklyn and teaches in the MFA Photography program at Parsons School of Design, The New School.

ABOUT
Marco Scozzaro employs a photographic fiction-making process as obliquely autobiographical, fabricating, inventing, and constructing images that straddle both criticism and confession. Subverting a tantalizing advertising style of rich colors and textures with staged images that disorient, Scozzaro questions the representability of certain ideas that recur in mass media. Not merely a criticism of oversimplification in visual culture today, his images are also documents of a purposely misdirected self-representation. (Jorge Alberto Perez)
