The Big Flat Now
investigates the fluid identity of photography and the evolving visual vernacular shaped by social media and digital culture. The project exists in multiple iterations, from a miniature window installation in Chinatown, NY, created during the COVID-19 lockdown, to an expanded gallery version (part of Did you have a nice day?).

Drawing from generic imagery circulating within contemporary visual culture—soft-lined millennial aesthetics, sentimental kitsch, stock images, and commercial signage—Scozzaro digitally collages and reconfigures these visual clichés into complex compositions. Through layering, abstraction, and translation across materials, he transforms images into objects, questioning how meaning is constructed and flattened through digital circulation.

By turning photographs into three-dimensional forms, prints, textiles, and sculptural elements, the artist exposes the instability of images and their role in shaping collective perception. The Big Flat Now functions as both a humorous celebration and a critique of visual excess and stereotypical imagery, inviting viewers to reconsider how we frame, consume, and share our lives within a culture of constant image production
